The Brass Lantern
1350 North 12th St
Reading, PA 19608
610-372-9311
The home of the hottest up-and-coming jam-bands, bluegrass, & dance-tronica for the last 7 years, the Brass Lantern is a small, three-room, 200-person club nestled in the northeast section of the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. It is also 21+ only (no exceptions) and NON-SMOKING.
It only hosts live music or DJs two or three times a week. The rest of the week, it’s your normal comfy watering hole, “…where everybody knows your name“.
An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island ipod
Hosting such notables as Future Rock with Orchard Lounge, The Bridge, Cabinet, Lotus School for Scoundrels movie , Pnuma Trio, Quagmire Swim Team, DJ Flow (from The Chappelle Show), Melvin Seals, Frogholler, Juggling Suns, and Jah Works, the Brass Lantern stands out as southeastern Pennsylvania’s “Best Kept Secret”. It has built a remarkably loyal fanbase by using only word-of-mouth & free online advertising.
The Brass Lantern features an intimate atmosphere, with a small semi-circle stage only 1 foot above the ground, so the music is truly in-your-face, which ensures the vibe is always right on.
There’s also a gameroom with arcade games, pool tables, electronic darts, and foosball if you need to get away from the intensity of the bar or the volume in the music room.
I plan to keep the Brass Lantern true to its roots, by continuing to host the live music that has made it the pillar of positive vibrations.
The Silo Nightclub
2017 Bernville Road
Reading, PA 19601
610-372-7373
The Silo Nightclub, now a NON-SMOKING venue, has been a landmark for live music & DJs right outside Reading, Pennsylvania for decades. A two-floor, 1100 person venue, it has hosted such notables as The Black Crowes, The Disco Biscuits, JM2, The New Deal, Future Rock, Quagmire Swim Team, & the New Riders of the Purple Sage, to name a few. I plan to utilize this venue as much as possible, mixing up the trend there, as recently The Silo has only been hosting punk/hardcore/metal shows & hip-hop/rap/DJ nights. I feel the most up-and-coming genres (jam-bands & dance-tronica) have been overlooked lately at The Silo & I certainly hope to change that. It is a large, enjoyable venue with a hotel directly next to it, and another brand new one less than a mile away.
There will be times where the building will be split, with separate events on each floor. I want to showcase some premier DJs spinning house, trance, breaks, & all that dirty dirty techno on the 2nd floor (only).
On the first floor (only), I plan to showcase the up and coming jambands, bluegrass, & dance-tronica that have blown away concertgoers at shows I booked at the Brass Lantern, including the premier Reading based acts. Based on availability, I may have these type of shows on the 2nd floor (only) if it is feasible (in terms of setting up production up there).
Utilizing both floors for one show, I plan to step it up a notch and bring in those acts that have been “too big” for the Brass & for most venues in downtown Reading. Look for the premier jam-bands, bluegrass, dance-tronica & otherwise coming soon.
Snipes Farm & Golf
890 West Bridge Street
Morrisville, PA 19067
215-295-1138
Since 1848, Snipes Farm, located about 30 mintues past Philadelphia in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, has been a horticultural landmark of the community, worked and maintained by over 11 generations of the Moon family (now Snipes).
Ornamental trees were the original product of the farm, with state and national champion trees that were planted in or around 1865 still on the premises today.
During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, Snipes Farm became a leading propagator and grower of rare plants on the east coast. Large estates from Philadelphia to New York were planted with nursery stock from these grounds.
In 1953, the Snipes family started growing fruits and vegetables, and a retail store was added, by the turn of the decade, they had developed “Snipes Farm and Nursery” into one of the top 100 Garden Centers in the United States.
In 1960, they constructed a driving range, mini golf and pitch and putt course on the farm and after, opened Snipes Farm for use by many community groups, including Girl and Boy Scouts, Fresh Air Fund, and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
Today, sister and brother team, Susan Snipes-Wells and Jonathan Snipes, manage the family farm. They hold a vision that Snipes Farm is a green jewel in congested lower Bucks County. A love of the land and a spirit of peace guide the Snipes family, and the many dedicated Snipes employees, as they work to keep the farm a beautiful and welcoming place for the public.
Snipes Farm is now entering its 7th year of hosting music festivals. They have hosted such notables as Blues Traveler, Keller Williams, Dave Bromberg, The Radiators, Railroad Earth, and many others.
The bucolic pastures and 150 year-old trees of Snipes Farm create a festival ambience that is quite magnificent. The convenience of being within minutes of major highways combined with the country atmosphere create a unique venue which is sure to please.
PlusVibes Productions is proud to be a friend and honorary caretaker of Snipes Farm, in association with Don Dix at GigGoals. We hope to share many musical events in the future.
